Sylvester, our warehouse foreman, came from Sicily at the age of 13 with three years of work experience already under his belt! Speaking no English he was enrolled in Lodi High School. After one year, he transferred to East Side High, in Paterson, where he entered their work-study program, which was his first introduction to Paterson Papers.
Sylvester has truly worked his way up through the ranks. He began as a high school part timer, who has grown to be an integral part of the Paterson Paper Team. He is responsible for all the warehouse employees, our fleet of trucks and the drivers, as well.
He has worked for three generations of Prells and remembers when business was very different from today. Most of the cutting, ruling and scoring were done in house, on what are now archaic machines. Although he still opens the doors at 5:00 AM, his focus has changed to today's needs in which speedy deliveries are paramount. Sylvester will soon celebrate thirty-five years with Paterson Papers and has no immediate thoughts of retiring.
